The Supreme Court has said we must trust cops because they are forced to make split-second decisions.
However, these split-second decisions can often lead to the wrongful killing of Black and Brown people. Watch the full video and learn more:

“Every state has some history of harm in the African American community…”
We didn’t need a report to tell us this. Abolition + community investment is the only option for our country at this point.

The Supreme Court has said we must trust cops because they are forced to make split-second decisions.
However, these split-second decisions can often lead to the wrongful killing of Black and Brown people. But because the law is on their side, many cops are never prosecuted. Meaning families of victims and survivors never see justice. Watch the full video and learn more…

Across Illinois, police are ticketing thousands of students a year for “misbehavior” in school such as skipping class or littering. Failing to pay their fines (up to $450) could result in adult consequences such as harm to their credit score.
This does nothing to help our youth succeed. This is another way to police and criminalize youth, only drawing students into the legal system early and fueling the school-to-prison pipeline. And unsurprisingly, Black students are being ticketed at a disproportionate rate.

Time & again, DOJ and states investigate police depts (STL, Baltimore, LA, etc) and find systemwide racism against Black and Brown communities. Minneapolis, where George Floyd was murdered, is the latest.
Police function to control and target Black communities and other communities of color. A report released last week on Minneapolis Police Dept proves that again.

Overview
Our right to vote is under attack like we have not seen since the days of Jim Crow. In 2020, state legislators stacked the laws to make it harder, and in many ways impossible, for many voters of color to vote–over 400 new anti-voting laws across 49 states were introduced in the last year.
In May, a coalition of voting rights organizations filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida to block the implementation of Senate Bill 90. This discriminatory voter suppression law creates major obstacles to vote-by-mail, curtails access to drop boxes, and criminalizes line warming activities such as providing water to voters. Florida’s SB90 law is a direct attack on the building of political power for Black and Latinx voters in the state and aggressively seeks to silence voters of color.
The trial will begin on January 31st and last roughly two weeks. Due to COVID-19, this trial will be held virtually. Please use this toolkit with sample social copy throughout the trial and use the hashtag #SB90Trial for any other posts.

#SB90 exists because some FL lawmakers believe that voting should be as difficult as possible, especially AFTER Black and Brown people in Florida expressed their voices at the ballot box in 2020. #SB90Trial
In the 2020 Florida election, Black and Latino voters achieved record turnout due to the massive investment of time and resources by organizations such as Plaintiffs. #SB90Trial
A record 1.38 million Black voters and 1.8 million Latino voters participated in the 2020 General Election. Now, Florida lawmakers are trying to silence their voices. We won’t let that happen. #SB90Trial
